Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 6, 2026  ·  Last updated: July 6, 2026

Wander ("the app," "we," "us") is a dark-sky companion for stargazers. This policy explains what data the app uses, where it goes, and what we keep.

The short version: Wander has no servers, no user accounts, and no tracking. We don't collect, store, sell, or share your personal information. Everything you create in the app stays on your device.

Information we do not collect

Location

With your permission, Wander uses your device's approximate or precise location ("while using the app") to do the one thing it exists to do — tell you how good the sky is where you are.

Your location is used on your device and is sent directly from your device to the following services only to fetch information for that location:

We send only the coordinates needed to answer the request. We do not attach your name, device ID, or any identifier, and we do not log or retain your location on any server we control (we don't have one).

As with any internet request, these services will see your device's IP address as a natural consequence of the connection — this is outside our control. Apple's handling of IP data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. lightpollutionmap.info is a hobbyist-run service operated by Jurij Stare; it does not publish a formal privacy policy, and we have no visibility into or control over its server-side logging practices.

You can decline or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Wander. The app still works without it — you can add dark sites manually and browse everything else.

Data that stays on your device

The following are stored locally on your device (using Apple's on-device storage) and never leave it except through your own iCloud device backups, if you have those enabled:

Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

Other network requests (no location sent)

Apple app diagnostics

If you have opted into sharing analytics with developers through iOS Settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymised crash reports and usage statistics through App Store Connect. We do not instrument the app with any analytics SDK; any data of this kind comes solely from Apple's own diagnostics system and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Purchases

Wander offers a one-time in-app purchase (a lifetime unlock) processed entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Purchase and restore are handled by Apple using your Apple Account; Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Notifications

If you enable alerts, notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. We do not run a push-notification server and do not collect a push token.

Children

Wander is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your privacy rights

Because Wander does not collect or store any personal information, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf. If you believe we hold data about you, or if you have any privacy-related question or concern, please contact us at support@letswander.app and we will respond promptly.

Canadian residents (PIPEDA / Quebec Law 25): The person responsible for the protection of personal information is Weaam Kakush (support@letswander.app).

EEA / UK residents (GDPR): Since we do not collect personal data, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection are trivially satisfied — there is nothing to act on. You may still contact us to confirm this.

California residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined under the CCPA.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
